If not within $5million payouts of SEC & B1G, I want ACC to fail. Sure.

That's what's best for VT. If the ACC can't get VT competitive with schools from the B1G, SEC, and a number of schools from the Big12, then I would like the ACC to begin to implode so that VT could find a home in a top tier league. That is exactly what I am saying.

VT NEEDS TO BE IN A TOP LEAGUE. If you follow recruiting, you know that we have been passed by in that regard. Top talents, especially in Virginia, are not giving us the time of day. And the results on the field are already indicative of that, though we're now trending in a worse direction. I actually think VT will be pretty good in 16, but our bowl streak is in serious jeopardy in 17 and 18 if we don't turn recruiting around bigtime. We are simply not keeping up with the Joneses and that is more evident by the day.

We're slipping into a second rate program in many other ways as well. We're now the minor league coaching development program for Texas A&M. Programs like Clemson and FSU have held SEC and B1G programs off thus far, due to rabid fanbases and massive stadiums. And schools like UVA, UNC, and Duke have a ton of money in general to keep up and provide for 15 man basketball teams, but VT cannot.

This is not sustainable:

Furthermore, there should be little allegiance to the ACC, 80% of them didn't want us to begin with. I had some friends attend the ACCCG down in Tampa the year we joined and they said the VT Cheerleaders and Hokie Bird were the most booed folks in the arena. They were shocked at how poorly the VT contingent was treated.

Now, with all of that being stated, I would not mind the ACC if they can get us anywhere close to a level playing field with the other leagues. I don't think they have any legal reason to do so, but ESPN might just be able to pull the rabbit out of the hat that saves the ACC. Someone somewhere's gotta come up with an extra $150 million or so.
