All this talk about ND joining or not joining the ACC is missing the point.


First off, ND is ALREADY an ACC member. If ND fans want to promote the idea their football team is independent, knock yourselves out. But the reality is, you are in the ACC for all sports, except 3 football games a year. That's the difference between schools like Clemson and Va Tech scheduling 4 OOC games and ND scheduling 7 OOC games. The ACC controls and schedules your other 5 games against ACC teams. So congratulations, I guess?

What does ND miss because of those 3 additional games? A chance to win a FB conference championship and regularly play in the OB. Not much else. This is also great for ACC teams not named ND because it means they can't knock anyone out of the ACCCG and replace them.

Because as I just pointed out, ND joining the ACC with those other 3 games will mean little to nothing in terms of ACC revenue, with or without an ACCN. Do you think the ACCN will be showing ND fb games? I don't.

I say the ACC needs to add 2 (WVU and UConn if we can get them) and let ND remain status quo forever if that's what they want to do.
