Why? No room to move further


ND can't budge further on independence. It is a "this far and no further" mentality.

The lifting of a self imposed 45 year bowl ban in 1969 to play Texas in the Cotton Bowl did not threaten ND's identity or its independent status.

Deciding to give up 128 years of independent status by joining a football conference is not analogous to deciding to play bowl games.

Apples and oranges. They are much different thought processes for the ND administration, alumni, donors and fans.
