Notre Dame is the ultimate Independent

Only one circumstance will ever cause ND to enter a conference and the atmosphere for that circumstance to be fact seems to now finally be slowly evolving in the world of college football. That circumstance is for all participants in the college championships playoffs to be decided totally on the field of play. One might allege we have that now. Not to the full extent, the four teams are chosen by a committee that strongly relies on polls. However those playoffs are an evolving enigma. Playoff participants by eventually number more and they may be chosen by criteria only relating to their positions atop conference standings. No blame committee or pathetic polls involved. Then ND will quickly choose a conference home. As things look now to this totally neutral observer, that conference for ND would be the ACC. However I would not be shocked to see ND dive into the B1G. Whatever, if I were an ACC fan, I would waste no time worrying about ND.
