To pick up from way below, your admin will note that 11-2 Stanford finished


ahead of 11-1 OSU.

Conf champ, especially P5, counts. ND needs to go undefeated, and possibly needs at least two 2-loss P5 champs, to get in. 11-1 will not get there most years unless includes head to head wins over one or more P5 champs.

Go back and look at how often a P5 champ playing a championship game has had 3 or more losses. They would need 2 in the same year.

The surprise to me was that 12-1 Houston was so low. Tells us the influence of a G-5 strength of schedule.
