If I have the power to get rid of one, I have he power to stand pat
But I think it's pretty clear where I stand. Wake is good company. I can't say I've met a Wake fan as insecure as you seem to be.
There is a reason that academic universities cozy up to one another, but conference needs a doormat. With a good coach, Wake football could easily match the success of Tech football of late.
Your days of 10-win seasons are a distant memory right now. I believe Fuente could be a great coach, but VT needs to recruit better. Richt, Mendenhall, Narduzzi, Fedora, Cutcliffe are all great coaches too, so the while it may be an exciting up your way, nothing is promised. The Coastal has been awful and VT lost its grasp. It's not going to get easier.
Wake knows it's place. There always has to be a last place team. Consistency is more valuable for the conference. It works for the SEC. Wake has nowhere to go but up, VT could go either way (bad for the league's image if things go south).
All that said, I think VT would thrive in the American. Your coach knows the league and at least there are some familiar faces plus that annual ECU loss would be a conference loss (surely that's less embarrassing to you than the prospect of losing to a Wake, right?)
So if you want to be an insecure jackal, there's your answer. Beamer was VT...it's could be a long road back. Just hope you don't get lost.
Apologies to all of the Hokies out there with the ability to reason. No offense to anyone except the guy that wanted to be offended.
