I think there is a disconnect between what
you think the board should be and what it is. It is more about business and $ as opposed to an ACC cheerleader board. It is about $ because that is the foundation of conference realignment. $ broke up the ACC-Maryland marriage. All of us recognize how great the ACC is all-around but when looking at $, everything - including conference networks - is driven by football. Football is 80% of the money pie. We all want a conference network to market the league and other sports. But the profit from it will be dictated by football.
Personally, I am content with the ACC because that is what the school wants and is the right fit on many levels. I don't think VT or the ACC is at risk anymore even with tv $ discrepancies between SEC/B1G and everyone else. Some of my posts may seem negative because I think some have an unrealistic expectation of where the ACC should fit in this football $ world. But as you know first hand, tv $ distribution cannot define a program's success but it is a factor.
I hope you don't get a bad taste in your mouth about VT from this board. VT fans largely root for Clemson and we're happy for your success. A family friend of mine is on your coaching staff so I take a particular interest in your program. Good luck this year. [Post edited by Colonel Jessup at 06/09/2016 07:41AM]
