WF contributes to the ACC in 2 ways. One is an academic reputation. Two is a lot of football victories to other teams in the conference. That means WF adds significantly less value to the ACC than they take. This in itself contributes to the ACC being less valuable and perceived as unstable.
That said - VT neither has the power nor the inclination to kick out any member, albeit a founding member. VT always wanted to be part of this ACC family and is very unlikely to take any action that hurts any family member. If WF left on its own though, we would not be sad to see them go.
