Glad you care about Wake, nobody else does.

I volunteered at Baptist hospital there much of this past winter and I couldn't tell you a single person I had a conversation with about Wake Athletics. None of the nurses or doctors there cared. The guys working in the Subway were all either Duke or UNC fans. I don't remember a soul wearing Wake Ts or caps around.

It's just not a thing there. It's great to be charitable in this world, but Wake Forrest U would do just fine if its sports teams competed against similar schools. I wouldn't shed a tear at all for them if they wound up in CUSA or the Sun Belt Conference.

Instead, they are quite costly to the schools and fanbases that are indeed passionate about college athletics. And VT is one of those fanbases.

And BTW, been to Death Valley a couple of times. It's got nothing on Lane Stadium in the levels of enthusiasm displayed. A passionate fanbase such as VT's shouldn't be expected to fork over money in order to prop up Wake Forrest and Raycom.
