Well I guess they have to come up with something since baseball is so bad.


13 Big Ten Members field varsity baseball teams, and 6 put hockey teams on the ice. Minnesota has been there, but I'm not sure who else from that league has ever been seen during Frozen Four weekend.

When you're awful at one of the major sports, you'll need to talk about another one that is not as universally sponsored. WVU loves to talk about Rifle. The Big Ten may very well be talking about ice hockey. The ACC is very good at lacrosse too. But I'd never call it a major sport. It's rapidly growing, but it has a ways to go in its penetration of the college sports landscape.
