1) Schools like FSU and Clemson have 80K seat stadiums and will be more than willing to cut other sports programs in order to keep up with their SEC rivals.

2) Schools like UVA and UNC have better fundraising operations than VT. Furthermore, they would be A-OK focusing on their relatively cheap 15 man bball teams. They will always have enough dough to pay small bball coaching staffs too.

3) VT has a new coach with a new philosophy. Will Fuente be as successful as Beamer? There's a chance, but the odds suggest he won't be. 10 win seasons are more rare then we VT folks are prone to comprehend.

4) The rest of college football has figured out the recruiting gold mine that is Virginia. We are now having to fend off elite programs for in state talent, programs from leagues that provide a ton more resources than ours does. So far, it hasn't been going very well. It's actually been a disaster for VT lately.

I'm telling ya, the VT football program is in a vulnerable place right now. As I mentioned in a post from yesterday, we still are a really good national brand. In fact, we're recruiting better out of state now than we are in state. We're still appealing to networks and bowl committees too. However, that will only be tougher to maintain as schools from other leagues keep piling in $10 to $20 million extra each season.

Of the public P65 schools, VT is in the bottom 10 or 15 in revenue and that is only projected to get worse from here on out.
