Why add Temple when Fordham is available?
Fordham would allow the Big 12 entry into the most lucrative television market of all, New York City. The Rams have tremendous football history, boasting Vince Lombardi and the Seven Blocks of Granite as part of their heritage.
By adding Fordham, the Big 12 could lay claim to having the only P5 program actually located in NYC (Syracuse, UConn and Rutgers be damned!). Fordham could play their games at Met LIfe Stadium until they are able to build their own facility in the Bronx or Manhattan.
The opportunities for other sports are boundless. Cross country meets in Central Park and moving the Big 12 baseball tournament to Yankee Stadium would be ideal. And for basketball, who wouldn't prefer an occasional conference tournament in MSG or the Barclay Center to spending the same weekend in Kansas freaking City?
My dad's barber says he has a brother who knows the wife of a NYC garbage truck driver who services a leading member of the Fordham governing board, and he's seen emails in the garbage indicating that the Rams have hired Mike Tranghese as a consultant to help them plan to elevate their football program and navigate the next round of conference expansion. And there is talk that Bill Belichick is ready for a new challenge and has informally agreed to step down from the Patriots and become the new head coach at Fordham once a Big 12 bid is extended. And to top it all off, Donald Trump is secretly behind all of these machinations because he wants naming rights to the new stadium. There's even a chance the Donald would loan Air Force One to Fordham for travel to road games in Waco and Lubbock.
So, I would not believe a word of this nonsense about Temple.
