Nielson: ACC most watched basketball conference. Third most for football.

Nielson released a report on viewership trends across the sports spectrum. It covers all of the professional sports first, but it gets to college sports on pages 26-29. There is good stuff in here regarding trends.

For football, they have the Big Ten and SEC at the top, the ACC third, and Notre Dame fifth right behind the Big XII. I wonder if ND joined the ACC it would boost both theirs and the ACC's because ABC gets better ratings for college football than NBC does usually. It also highlights that the northeast is not a region that cares as much about college football.

For basketball, it has the ACC first followed by the SEC. I think these SEC numbers might be skewed because they are for the year when Kentucky was dominant. I had to laugh because they make a big deal about basketball viewers being more educated.

Anyway it's good stuff.
