It doesn't require for some industries, but it's way better for others.

The ACC doesn't make things, so you are comparing apples to oranges. Right now by far the greatest influencer for college sports is in Washington DC and don't expect them to let go, once they get their hands on it, so you need to be there with your CEO.

Again, I have seen this first hand, and there is not one shred of doubt in my mind on this. However, like Teel said the office is almost certainly going to Charlotte which IMHO means the ACC will probably not remain a Tier 1 Conference. I hope I am wrong.
