Emma is a freshman and probably had this issue in high school. Apparently it was not called. So it became a habit for her. She was focusing hard on the release and target and developed a hop that is illegal.

The VT pitching coaches have been working with her as you will recall we had this issue pop up during the early season in Clearwater Florida. So this is nothing new.

My guess is this weekend the games became very stressful, especially for a freshman. So she lost her concentration on whatever we were instructing her to correct and fell back into an old habit. Reminds me of my golf game :)

This will be taken as one more learning lesson for her and she will be fine. I do know what I saw and that was her flat throwing the ball past those Nole hitters. We will be just fine.
