My 16 year old grandson is a pitcher and has multiple ACC baseball scholarship offers, one which he has committed to. He is a top 100 pittcher nationally for his age group. He is also being followed by major league scouts. He has a former major league pitcher as his personal pitching coach. He is in weekly contact with the pitching coach of the college he will attend. The college pitching coach cautions him to not over work his arm. He sees an orthopaedic sports doctor who wrote a book on protecting young pitchers' arms. This sports doctor was the ortho doctor of a major league team. None of these professionals will allow him to pitch even 100 pitches over a full week, much less over one game. The most that they have ever allowed is 75 pitches for the week. I often look at the pitch counts of various college baseball teams, and only a very few times have I ever seen a pitcher pitch even 100 pitches in a game and never have I seen one pitch 120 pitches. There is too much possible money on the table for a college pitcher to overuse his arm, and college coachs know that. Maybe there is a HS rule limiting to 100 pitches, but I have never seen such a rule. Now, sir, what is your pitching background?
