I hedged, because it isn't clear what the OP's point is. Since he references the 2005-2006 team's follow up performance, I assumed that 2022-2023 was fair game. There are a lot of unknowns, but my point would be that simply dismissing this year's performance as 'well bad things happen' isn't a really good or hopeful take, since next year looks to be a lot worse.

If the OP's point was that anything can happen, I think I covered that in the title of my posts.
