One further point RE my glucose management...
prior to moving to whole food plant-based diet, I struggled with glucose control and management. I tried zero to near-zero carb diets - keto and others. I had initial success, but my BG and A1C continued to rise (along with my insulin use). I was not overweight, working out like a madman and eating zero carbs and my numbers were rising. It was beyond frustrating.
I know such a diet is seemingly extreme for many, but I have found that I can maintain it well - nearing 4 years of plant-based eating.
The bottom line is that this worked for me - but most importantly, reading their book helped me understand the impact of fat intake on insulin resistance/sensitivity and, importantly, predictability of my body's reaction to what I eat.
