school. Miami wants access to Northeast for students and alumni coming from there. Either UVA or Tech could be in the North since both pull from there. Each school gets one or two crossover. If you have two, only one is a conference game. The schools that play an SEC team get only one crossover and it’s a Conference game.

Miami doesn’t have a crossover, so FSU and VT.

VT would have UVA and Pitt if in the South or NCSU if in the North.

I am not going to list them all, because it’s the concept that counts.

The SEC doesn’t care about the balance of power, lately it’s been in the west, but it was in the East when Spurrier and Urban Meyer coached at Florida. In the B1G it’s in the East, it hasn’t hurt them. In fact until this year it was dominated by Ohio State. ACC basketball doesn’t worry the power has been with Duke and UNC.

You need to fill stadiums first, that’s easier with closer geographical matchups. Full stadiums help TV and recruiting.
