Oh I agree there isn't a simple solution for the ACC
However, I do think a true zipper model is probably the best compromise assuming that VT and UVA are placed in opposite divisions and paired together. Also, if the ACC was willing to go to a 10 game conference schedule, then more people may be okay with the zipper model and keeping the protected cross-division game.
6 division games
1 protected cross-division game
3 rotating cross-division game (the remaining 6 teams could be divided into 2 groups of 3 that rotate every 2 years)
10 conference games
Now the ACC teams with SEC rivals won't go for it because their 2 OOC games would be set in the years they play Notre Dame. However, if the ACC adopted my proposal, then VT could play every team in the other division home and away 1 time within a 4 year window. [Post edited by VTHokie2000 at 12/28/2021 1:43PM]
