Frank's relationship with his assistants would have endured whoever was hired, the program he built and legacy he hoped to sustain would have been the risks with an unhealthy Jim Weaver making the hire. A situation made even more dicey when whatever coach would have been hired might have had questions about the long term tenure of both the President and AD responsible for his initial hire. Steger's delayed departure due to the shooting lawsuits trickled down to a variety of admin hires both in the AD and across campus.
