The critics standard is what they believe is communicable., not infections

If you read the article. The virus can be undetected since it can hide from the immune system and lay dormant. The alternative to a highly infectious individual with a high virus load is many moderately infectious individuals with a moderate virus load. If you ignore the second case, you have a lot of people contributing aerosolized virus in public places where people congregate or pass through.
