This is a such a copout. The mantra that things are pretty much the same
For blacks and they're still treated the same for the last 400 years is willfully ignorant. It ignores all of the things that have changed and efforts that have been made over those 400 years. Instead we just say that things are exactly the same as 1860 for blacks. Yes there are places that we can improve but to blame anything bad that happens on institutional racism is lazy. There are plenty of examples of African Americans that have made great lives for themselves despite "the man" holding them down. Maybe we should look at how they did it instead of dismissing it as getting lucky or bowing down to the white man's system.
Having fostered children from poverty including African American children and teens it's clear that there is a stigma many times against those that are trying to do better. I can't tell you how many times their birth parents either didn't care if they finished high school....ore in some cases flat out told them that they didn't need to. But this part of culture never gets discussed. Because it's much easier to say it's everyone else's fault.
If there are examples of racism in any "institution" please provide them. Because I am sure the overwhelming majority of people will support ending that and calling it out. Universities and education in general goes out of their way to support and encourage minorities. Banks have tons of programs for support. So what are these examples so we can all fight racism together.
