Agreed, I'm aware of that even for things I stock up on.


got a pretty good stock of canned sardines that predates all of this but know to use 'em up and buy more.

Yeah, I don't want to go down the rabbit hole of thinking all this out, but I will anyway, you would probably want a surge amount and some sort of response that also includes ramping up production. I know we outsource a lot of materials for drugs, but maybe we keep say 15% in-country type of stuff.. Sure, you have to rotate stock and of course how much does all this cost? I would think N95 masks would have a pretty good shelf life on pallets for immediate shipping in some warehouse in dry Arizona, that would probably be the biggest bang for the buck. At the other end, medicines I presume would have shorter half lives, so costs go up.
