Although I have a bud who made considerably more in the market than he was getting paid as a Army O-5 by "day trading." He active tracked ~10 stocks that had a lot of daytime volatility. He would put buy orders if they dropped to a certain price. Any that tripped that buy order would immediately have a "sell" order if they rose to a certain price. He did this every day, and I think he ended up making well over $100K that year. Frankly I think it was in the $250K range...
