Very fractured
Gauging our board, the best word is fractured. You have BB only fans who are thrilled and even taking "victory laps" that their desire to kill football and go back to the Big East appears to be coming true. You have others like myself who struggle to understand how the administration could apparently make this move with no plan for football and potentially killing it in the process. I'm a fan of all things UConn, but that is definitely not the case with everyone on the board.
I'm not sure we have a plan A never mind a plan B, C or D. Connecticut the state, as well as the school, has long suffered from poor leadership. Seems like it's showing itself again.
I sent an email to our Board of Trustees to delay the vote (they're meeting today 6/26) and to fully consider the long term in lieu of the short term, potentially politically motivated, move. I had asked if we reached out to the ACC about a similar setup as ND. If you exclude football, we bring a lot to the olympic sports. Baseball has been very good, men's soccer is consistently above average, women's soccer is on an upswing and our field hockey is as good as the top of the ACC. Our softball stinks and we only have women's lacrosse at this time. It balances out your basketball schedule to 16 teams. I'd even take this if you didn't give us football scheduling help, though it would be nice.
Finally, too soon to make the call on Memorial Stadium since we have no clue what's going to happen. Given the silence of the administration, I'm still hoping it's a bargaining ploy to get some T3 right back, but the chances of me being correct seem very remote.
