I am not surprised that the ball only fans are happy to kill football

What surprises me though is those people living in CT not considering the political ramifications of killing UConn football. As a taxpayer, I would be upset to see my tax dollars go towards building a new football stadium for UConn and a new on campus basketball practice facility only to have the "new" football stadium become "vacant" approximately 20 years later. At least I do not believe the state of CT will be able to lure an existing pro franchise to the state and become tenants of the stadium. Likewise, I don't think the state will be able to schedule enough concerts, festivals, and other single events to justify not demolishing it and use the land for something else.
