I purchased a car last registered in NY in 1980. NY is not a title state so

After 35 years of not being registered they had no record of it. A lawyer friend suggested I petition the local state court, explain the situation, and request they order PennDOT to issue me a title.

Our situations are different in that I had a hand written bill of sale but zero evidence that the seller had legal ownership of the car. The court granted my request and now I have a good title.
