Trying to sell a truck with no title (lost). Any help is appreciated.

Paid off 1997 truck in 2002. I lost the title. DMV says they were never informed that the vehicle was satisfied. Thus, they have a title, and understand that it's probably paid off, but they have no record of it.

Bank (FVB) was sold to BBT. They have no record of it based on name and VIN.

Oh, you can't sell a car in VA without a clear title unless it's for junk. I can't get one.

Any ideas?
