Spot on with the facts and circumstances of the times. The ACC was in a

much better financial position than most of the conferences back around 2004, but was keenly aware that the financial shift to football was well underway at that time, and the addition of good football schools was necessary to keep the conference financial condition in a positive position.

However, as has been noted, mistakes were made and that is water over the dam. The ACC was not in a good bargaining position when the conference network concept was being implemented. It’s football programs were not in the position they are today.

Also, when other conference networks were in the formative stage no one really knew what was truly involved. The Big Ten suffered through the implementation stage and it took years for it to be profitable.
