that softball, as far as the LOI, is not as fluid as other sports like football or basketball and that "honoring" the LOI is important where early verbals are the norm. However, there are always exceptions and ways to circumvent the "honoring" should circumstances change. The good programs do it with far more regularity than you might think and the reason UVA and others do not is that the worse your program is the more imperative that somebody can at least put stock in your word.
