In the realm of college sports, the goal is winning

If the best basketball player available is from Brazil or Spain or some other nation, a college coach is going to offer the foreign born athlete a scholarship over a less able American.

Ample opportunity exists in American sports for American kids, and I say this as I wait for a college baseball coach to offer my 6-4 all-star left handed pitching son a chance to compete for a spot on their baseball team.

Would it suck if the schools we're hoping for are more interested in a 6-6 heat throwing righty from the Dominican Republic? Sure, but I accept that colleges are in the business of winning, not being nationalistic.
