Universities have plenty of partnerships with private industry. Lots of programs that funnel students to the professional ranks. There's nothing wrong with that. No need to pretend that athletics is somehow different. There are lots of universities that already don't run semipro teams. Bully for them. If some do want to (and clearly some do) well bully for them too. Just stop pretending.
