Even if the Big XII discontinues as a FBS conference

I am not sure it would force Notre Dame's hand. The only thing that would force Notre Dame's hand is if FBS Playoff (a private organization) decides to restrict it to conference champions for the Semi-Final Round or decide to expand the Playoff to 8 teams and incorporate the 4 CCGs as the Quarterfinal Round. Even then that might not be a enough to force Notre Dame to join the ACC as a full member.
