Regional Rivalries sell tickets and draw viewers.
UConn to Boston College and Syracuse is like West Virginia to Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.
It is all about driving demand. That is the value of UConn and also West Virginia quite honestly. It's why Michigan pushed so hard and paid so much to play Notre Dame again. I think that the ACC benefits by bringing as many as possible into the league as it can. We aren't going to get Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, or Michigan. But UConn is available and West Virginia possibly could be.
Now Boston College has the Beanpot to fall back on in Boston. But I'm looking for something that helps drive demand for the ACC.
Check out this UConn football schedule for this year. There are some familiar names on 9/24 and 11/19. There is a reason. It's important.
