Non-starter

I hate to be negative in these threads but ND does not want 8 conference games, it does not want 7, it does not want more of a football commitment to the ACC than the 5 games already contracted.

ND and NBC have a contract that has run from 1991 and will run until 2025.

Exactly why and what pressure will NBC put on ND and why should ND bow to such pressure with a 12 year ACC contract and a 10 year NBC contract in its pocket?

Playing Miami, Pitt and BC every year is not much of a lure. ND was fine with losing Pitt and BC on the annual schedule when it joined the ACC.

In fact, a couple of years ago, ND turned down an offer for a sixth ACC game that was to be a dedicated annual game with BC.

Nothing has changed with ND's stance since then.

ND and Texas can always play games outside of the ACC just like they did last year and will the opening game this year.

ND has decided to take its chances regarding the playoffs as an independent and seems comfortable with that decision.

ND is ok with the status quo regarding the ACC and has communicated often to the conference that no additional football commitment is forthcoming.
