If the ACC/SEC are going to be more active than the NHL

(since I think more things are reviewable in college football) and multiple games are going on at the same time, then I would think 1 official would be designated for each game. I don't think they can have the same set up as the NHL with multiple monitors and people scanning the various monitors. It just saves the conference money by having all the review officials in 1 location instead of traveling to the schools.

Now what will be interesting to see play out is whether the time it takes Greensboro to buzz/telephone the stadium is just as quick as the time it took the replay official to buzz down onto the field. The last thing either conference wants is a potential game changing play to be disallowed because the ref on the field didn't get the notification that HQ wanted to review the previous play until the current play was well underway.

Example purposes only: VT is playing Miami. There is some sort of controversy with the previous play (i.e. question about whether a player stepped out of bounds or not) that would get buzzed by the stadium replay official before or soon after the ball is snapped. Let's assume the ball is snapped and Evans throws a 60 yd TD pass to Hodges that would give VT the lead. Then you see Ron Cherry come on the mic and say "The current play was disallowed because the previous play is under review." In this particular case he received the notification after the ball had left Evans's hand.

Something else to consider is that a lot of teams like to run uptempo offenses. Will they now have to wait 15-20 seconds between plays to give HQ time to decide if they want to review the previous play further? Will those 15-20 seconds count against the play clock or will the play clock start to run after the review window is up? I am not against the idea because it does have its merits. I just don't know if the technology is quite there so it has a minimal impact on the flow of the game.
