I don't remember if it was the NHL or MLB was the first pro

league to implement this type of review. I suspect both conferences were influenced by some level the success both pro leagues are having with it and saw how much money could be saved by implementing it. Regardless of the route, the biggest risk is a breakdown in communication between the official on the field and the review official due to mechanical reasons (i.e. telephone lines go down). Given that most stadiums aren't located near HQ, I do wonder how much the level of risk in a breakdown of communication goes up as the distance from the stadium to HQ increases. Any thoughts?

Something else that just occurred to me is the only time the NHL and MLB review official gets involved is if the field official calls in. Since college football current allows the review official to buzz down to the field, it will be interesting to see how they handle the lag. I don't think the ACC and SEC will give up that feature of the process unless the other conferences agree to it.
