If I am going to watch a college football game that doesn't involve
VT, then I prefer watching 2 good to great teams play from any conference than a great team play a conference cellar dweller. And that is my problem with ESPN's "regional package" because there are a few weekends where my options are sometimes this:
ABC: Whatever marquee game at 8pm
ESPN: SEC great team vs. SEC average team
ESPNU: SEC great team vs. SEC below average/cellar dweller team
ESPN2: SEC team vs. Sun Belt or 2 ACC teams (which I may have no interest watching that weekend)
A couple of times I have the game on ABC also end up being televised on one of the ESPN channels. The irony in all of this is that sometimes there is a Pac-12 or even Big XII game between 2 teams that are either ranked or at least in the top half of their respective conference that I would rather watch. However, I can't watch it because it is not offered in my region. A few times it isn't even available on WatchESPN. I think the only way I could watch the game was either buy the ESPN's College Football Package (which I am not going to do because I think it is too expensive) or try to find a bar that is televising the game (which could mean I miss the 1st Quarter).
