Multiple problems with that scenario


Anything is possible, but here's the reality:

1. The dude of WV is like a 1980's tabloid. Inaccurate but entertaining.
2. I can't see NCSU leaving the ACC without a few more rival schools, plus NCSU wouldn't conspire in private.
3. Having a 16 team B12 conference with 8 teams in each division will create the same scheduling problem the ACC currently has with regards to cross divisional play.
4. None of the B12 schools have a great television market except Texas, which has it's own network and is unlikely to give it up.
5. The ACC migrants you mentioned would be getting Iowa State and WVU in their division, but giving up a combination of "UNC, UVA, VT, GT, SYR, BC, WF, and ND Partial". Sounds like a bad deal to me.
6. The departing ACC schools are all very east coast brands and have little desire to associate themselves in a "middle of the country" culture.
7. The proposal the dude of WV suggests sounds great for WVU and the Big12 with stability, east coast presence, more natural rivals, better shot at cable network. The problem is it isn't nearly as attractive for the existing ACC members.
8. The Big12 making more money currently possibly isn't rooted in long term math. I believe it's skewed based on a legacy TV contract that doesn't need to be split with Nebraska, Missouri and A&M. Everyone knows it, hence why the B12 is rumbling in the news... not the ACC.
