There may be a difference between between a single game and a three game

series. My point was that I'm not sure one necessarily gets a team better prepared for the postseason given the format at the Regional and College World Series level is double elimination. Only the Super Regional and Championship Series are a best-of-3 format. Likewise, if Oklahoma makes it to the College World Series and VT does not, then it would be equally unfair to conclude that the additional ranked series hurt VT's chances to make it to the College World Series.

Also, it is possible that Oklahoma decided to play in these "tournaments" is so the players have an opportunity to play in front of friends and family. I say that because I think Oklahoma had a player set the HR record in the tournament in Hawai'i. If someone hasn't already connected the dots, then that player is from Hawai'i. At least it shows there may be things more important than playing X number of ranked series.
