I think we may see sports in general collapse financially...
...in the next 10-20 years. On one hand you've got a certain percentage of the population that will simply walk away as teams cave to "cancel culture." I know some fans who simply won't watch the Washington Commanders play football because they are so ticked off about the name change. Agree or disagree, you aren't going to change their mind, and their money ain't coming back. Then you've got massive inflation that is going to really cut into the disposable income that people have to spend on sports entertainment. It's already prohibitively expensive to attend most sporting events. Those costs will increase with inflation, while disposable income will decrease. That's not a good recipe for prolonged financial viability. At some point, I think we are going to see owners really take a hit on their bottom line, which will eventually lead to player salaries getting affected.
And if that comes to pass, I will say "it's about time."
