When all the backlash against Native American mascots started years ago
I generally disagreed with the sentiment given that the whole point of a mascot is one of admiration/reverence.
But there were two cases where I'll bite that it wasn't terribly respectful. One was the images used by the Cleveland Indians (Chief Wahoo is a caricature, not respectful), and the other was the Redskins (given that was never a term of endearment for Native Americans).
And, unsurprisingly, both franchises tried to do something about it, and botched it horribly.
