I think fans focused on the scheduling, not the NCAA implications
They committed to work together re: the NCAA and its role as a governing body, College Football Playoff expansion, NIL considerations ,etc.
The Alliance did stop the CFP expansion in its tracks until the NCAA issues are worked thru. I think that's a lot more than "nothing practical".
Alliance also has 5 of the 21 reps working on the broader NCAA issues. The most notable aspect of that should get more publicity in April if the committee stays on schedule.
Yes, football scheduling has been meh so far. But we were told at the outset that it wouldn't change much soon because of current contracts.
I think some people jumped to the conclusion that this was somehow going to be a re-org of the "P5" and or we'd see immediate benefits in TV contracts (which I'm sure Phillips would like). That isn't going to happen unless/until they work thru the minimum standards for D1 membership. If that changes significantly, we could see some movement re: the Alliance, but if not, anything they do will be more subtle. I do think they'll vote as a block on the NCAA matters, treating the SEC and Big 12 as minority shareholders so to speak at the top end of D1. [Post edited by daveinop at 03/28/2022 12:24PM]
