I'm sure the other P-5 conferences will have lobbyists in DC.

If they don't already have them. The states have more control over colleges than the federal government except for the military academies. I really don't want Congress to get involved. They'll probably makes things worse.

Then you have the private colleges, and the ACC has a ton of them compared to other P-5's. The ACC lost two state universities, South Carolina and Maryland. The ACC's 21st century expansion hasn't been as good as the SEC's. The SEC has added all large state universities (Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma). The B1G did the same with Nebraska, Maryland and Rutgers. The SEC's additions are more impressive than the B1G's. As for the ACC, their best additions have been Virginia Tech (large state university that is a football first school) and Notre Dame (even if they failed to get their football program). Miami would've been a great addition, but their football program has underachieved since joining. The ACC's troubles go back decades ago with its 'basketball first' culture and its lack of 'football first' large state universities. I, along with many others, have said this from the early days of this board. I remember many defending the ACC's mix of state and private universities. I was never a big supporter of it because those smaller private universities don't have the fan bases needed to compete with those in the B1G and SEC. Most of us hoped that Syracuse, BC and Pitt would pack their football stadiums, but rarely have they done so since joining. You can add Miami to that list too. It's the ACC's large universities like FSU, VA Tech, Clemson, Louisville and NC State that pack their stadiums. UNC, Georgia Tech and UVA need to do better, and I believe that they can. It's Wake, Duke, BC, Cuse, Miami and Pitt who concern me. Pitt won the ACC football championship last season and their stadium looked like Lane Stadium during the 4th quarter of a bad loss. Heinz Field and Lane Stadium are about the same size. On some Saturdays, Cuse seems to have more fans for men's lacrosse than football. Wake and Duke depend on visiting fans to pack their stadiums.
