I think it needs to be clear that one of the things on the table, if Putin


so chooses to sit at this table (heck, maybe it can even be as physically long as he likes), would be the end of sanctions and assistance in the Russian people recovering from them; their point was to end the invasion.

Unfortunately for Putin, saying you aren't going to invade and then invading, has blown through about any trust which of course makes negotiations more difficult. And then there's the fact that Putin has little interest in making this out known to his people.
