Just wait until the Big12 gets settled. Once they get the new
and get rid of OU and TX, then the B12 will be the perfect setup for the fourth Alliance member. And at that point, the SEC is in trouble. Because with a P4 alliance, you have even numbers for playoffs and other regular and post season scheduling. It would also extend the Alliance media footprint to ~80% of the country (complete WAG with that number).
The fact that the initial Alliance press conference mentioned the B12 several times and how they were important, hints to me that they have some much bigger long term plans in mind (like the others below posted). Scheduling is just one piece of this machine. Long term, if the ACC can get rid of divisions and make the yearly football schedules have more variety, then VT is in the right spot and just needs to be patient while the big picture plays out with the Alliance.
