How'd VT grade out with the Fuente hire?


As far as I'm concerned, the lower the "grade", the better the Pry hire looks. I haven't followed college football closely in several years, and Pry honestly wasn't even on my radar, but everything I've seen from him so far makes me feel like he is going to be successful. I won't make the claim that he was "the right guy", as I think multiple coaches could be successful at VT, but I do like the fact that he cut his coaching teeth under Beamer and knows what it's like to be part of winning at VT.

Based on his moves so far, he seems to have a clear plan and a feel for how he wants his teams to play. He also appears to have a really firm grasp on his various duties as CEO of the program, including many that are not directly related to on-field activities. (i.e. - engaging with the fanbase, including former players in the program, reaching out to high school coaches, etc.) So far, I'd give Pry's performance an "A". But, we all know how "winning the offseason" goes. At some point, he'll have to produce results. I just hope the fanbase is willing to give him plenty of patience. Fuente left the program in shambles, and this rebuild is likely to take quite a while.

I'm totally disillusioned with college football in general and don't watch anymore, but I'll definitely be interested to see how Pry does. Based on all the evidence currently available, I'd say Babcock made a good hire.
