It's also a numbers game - quality vs. quantity
I agree on the five stars. They seem to be great athletes BUT I believe there are only 35 - 50 five stars per year. There are three major recruiting services and they assign around 30 five stars a year. There aren't that many but there are way more three and four star recruits. Four stars might have a higher success rate but there will be more three star guys in the draft due to sheer numbers. Don't forget that Marcus Vick was a five star and that didn't go so well.
I'm mainly focusing on the top 25 in the state and seeing how the top guys fared and looking for overlooked players. A while ago, I did an analysis of all the recruits at Tech over the last twenty years and found that attrition rates were roughly 40% for both three and four star recruits.
The NFL draft is full of a lot of busts and head scratchers so I don't think the draft is the best measure of success. There are plenty of guys drafted for their potential and many solid players who never get their name called.
