Exactly. Now I will say I did find out more background history

on why the CAA created the bylaw via a conversation I had with Shane Mettlen on Twitter. According to Shane, when ECU announced it was leaving the CAA to join C-USA, it needed 1 more year for all of its non-football sports for whatever reason (he never said and I don't think ECU ever said publicly). So it sounds like the bylaw was created because ECU's other sports would have the "advantage" of the money and maybe exposure ECU received from playing football in C-USA for that 1 season. Then once ECU completely left the CAA, the bylaw would have been repealed which never happened for various reasons.
